Mola-Inspired Texas Art Magnets
Houston, TX
Fridge worthy. Texas bright.
Miriam Lim O’Brien trained as an architect but realized she loved drawing more than designing buildings, and she now pours that skill into art inspired by the molas of her Panamanian heritage. She began by cutting and layering colored cardstock to recreate the look of the Guna people’s textile art as gifts for close friends, and their encouragement turned it into a business. Today she draws every design herself and prints it in her home office, pairing the classic mola labyrinth with animals, landmarks, and everyday objects from the places she has lived.
These 2" x 3" magnets carry mola-inspired Texas designs, printed and heat-pressed onto fiber-reinforced plastic with a gloss finish and a thin magnet backing. They brighten a fridge, an office file cabinet, or a magnetic board with bold color. With 18 Texas designs available, each one is made to order. A small souvenir that sticks around.
